On the evening of Thursday, September 5, Theodora Dima, President of the Sharing Economy Association (S.O.DIA.), was a guest on the TV show One Talk.
In her discussion with Kostas Giannakidis and Periklis Dimitrolopoulos, Ms. Dima spoke about short-term rental platforms and how they operate in Greece, as well as the “threats” faced by hosts, explaining the reasons behind the creation of S.O.DIA.
At the One Talk roundtable, she also discussed the restrictions and obligations for those listing a property on a short-term rental platform, while highlighting the challenges and gaps that still exist in the taxation framework for hosts.
Finally, she addressed the ongoing issue of housing availability and whether the global short-term rental phenomenon is changing the character of neighborhoods. She emphasized that, in Greece, there is not yet an issue of “overtourism,” and that the country continues to rely economically on tourism now expanding into new and diverse forms.
